Story
Well it's mission accomplished!
Just back from Boston and happy to report that I completed the marathon in 4hrs, 19 mins and 36 secs.
What a race - despite feeling like it was my toughest yet (what with a hot day and plenty of hills between 16 and 20 miles), this has got to be my favourite major. Steeped in history, Boston certainly puts on one hell of a show. Brilliant support all the way; inc. those girls from Wellesely College. I've never seen anything like it!!
Most importantly, however, it's been a fantastic effort on all of your behalf in helping me riase some funds for Help The Hospices. You helped me way exceed my target and gave me great encouragement when feeling sorry for myself whilst on those hills.
So... Thanks once again for all of your kind support.
Gary...
(What am i going to do now? - Was this my last marathon? mmmm... I wonder :-)
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
Oh no - not again I hear you cry!
"We know he can do this mad stuff!!!!".
Yes - I know BUT this time's it's really special and I thought it would be great to mark the occasion by trying to raise some more money for the Allianz company charity: "Help The Hospices". So what's the big deal then? Well this Friday I'll be flying off to Boston (USA) to compete in the world's oldest and most prestigious marathon. Can you believe it's 115 years old. (That's a bit like how old I feel when I've run 26.2 miles!!!). Anyway the race is one of 5 events that forms part of the World Marathon Majors series and is the last one that I need to run in order to have completed all 5 since starting with London in 2003. The others for me have been New York (2007), Berlin (2008) and Chicago (2009).
So why not help me celebrate and make a donation to a very worthy cause at the same time!!! It would be really appreciated if you could dig deep and help me achieve the target. Furthermore, remember that anything I raise is matched by Allianz.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
