Story
Hi, thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Back in 2011 I ran my first ever marathon, which happened to be the Brathay Winderemere marathon; 26.2 'undulating' but beautiful miles around lake Windermere. To say it was tough is probably a bit of an understatement. I could barely move for days afterwards and told myself at the time never again!
But despite that I loved everything about the race, the breath taking scenery, the atmosphere and most importantly the great work of the Brathay Trust; and have been back to run the marathon almost every year since. And every year I am always in absolute awe of the inspirational 10 in 10 runners, who take on the course not just once, but 10 times in 10 consecutive days!!! This is an event which Bear Grylls described as: "an epic challenge that will require an epic strength of mind" and its one that from the first time I became aware of it back in 2011, I always hoped I would one day be ready to take on myself.
So, finally, 2017 is the year! Starting on the 12th of May 2017, I will be taking on 262 hilly miles in 10 days to raise money for Brathay Trust (registered charity 1021586).
Brathay are a fantastic charity who work with children and young adults throughout the UK to train, inspire and change the lives of those who may for a number various reasons need extra help to find their way in life. Brathay work with a wide-range of young people with many of their programmes targeted at those that are most vulnerable; managing the transition from living in care to independence, risking exploitation in unhealthy relationships or lacking the confidence or skills to find work or training. They also help young people who are sexually-exploited, have alcohol and substance misuse, and young carers.
