We work in the world's toughest places to ensure children are in education.

Story

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/afghanistan-taliban-takeover-hamidullah-abawi-b951567.html

Street Child continues to break new ground in standing up for the rights of children to receive an education; especially in the worlds toughest regions. As many of the world’s powerful & most influential players leave Afghanistan; the Street Child team of 600, remains on the ground to facilitate the education of 40,000 Afghan girls and boys.With their unique knowledge ,respect & ability to work across often extreme divides, Street Child is gearing up both to maintain current education programs; and help with the broader humanitarian  crisis; whilst safeguarding the well being of children & employees.

Despite the incomprehensible strategy of the UK Government to “Guillotine” two of the charity’s most successful Programs ,educating young girls in Congo and Nepal; as part of the UK International Aid cuts ; the charity found the means to continue the quest & honour commitments to the girls;

Just two examples of the resilience; front line DNA; commitment of Street Child to deliver results; set itself apart as a Charity, making things happen for the most vulnerable people in the some of the world’s toughest Regions. The Charity is leading the focus on combining education, child protection ,& livelihood support to address the social, economic & structural issues that proliferate todays education crisis. it remains true ti its DNA of local relevance, sustained results, even & especially in low resource environments & emergencies.

Many of you reading this, have made significant contributions to enable this story. We started with the inspirational Shane O’Neil & his wife Sheelagh, who founded Lessons For Life ,leveraging the Global scale generosity of Liberty Global & its partners ( thank you Accenture !)  to launch programs in Africa. We were lucky/privileged to architect a tie up with Street Child CEO Tom Dannatt & team to multiply the scope, ambition, impact that Street Child makes today

We are now at a strategic inflection point !

Our Pledge ; A MILLION  & MILLIONS MORE

From 2021-24 Street Child will reach a MILLION children & MILLIONS more through our powerful partner network. We pledge to make a material impact to the safety,schooling, learnings of a MILLION children living in low resource environments & emergencies. We further pledge to contribute to the safety, schooling , learning  of MILLIONS more children through our advocacy and active initiatives to advanced local actions .

I love the simplicity, the ambition & the multiplier effect of collaboration with local players in this strategy.  Its a rare beacon of hope , for so many marginalised children in the world. I am more motivated than ever in raising funds to invest in this ; although i also believe our impact must go beyond fund raising.

Tomorrow ,we will launch the 10th anniversary of the bike ride. We will ride 250 km in the iconic Chiltern Hills North of London. We are looking to raise £1m + . A lot in these COVID times; not a lot, in the context of what we can achieve here!
