Story
Sometimes I find myself getting annoyed by those everyday life moments such as commuting, politicians from all parties (frankly) talking in some kind of 'bizarre-BS-babble-meaningless to me' rhetoric and things like how Costa coffee has overtaken McDonalds & Starbucks to make every UK high street look exactly the same.
Luckily, a good friend of mine is frequently level headed and wise enough to remind me that these are simply 'middle class problems'. And how right he is. But then when you stop and think about it, just how lucky are we to suffer these kinds of middle class problems? It could be worse. We could live in daily fear that our homes and families being attacked - does this sound familiar too?
I would argue a big reason we can afford to have middle class problems is because British Armed forces take good care of us. Indeed they have done for 100 years, as this year commemorates the 100th anniversary of the first world war.
So if you wear a poppy every November, then it's a good idea to remind yourself why you do that. Really, why ... do you do that? If you're like me, on reflection, and feel very grateful for the sacrifices others have made - and continue to make - in order to make our lives as peaceful as possible - the please donate some money towards supporting the British Legion.
