Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
A year ago, out of the blue, our Mum was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and after starting chemotherapy tragically died less than one month later.
To mark the first anniversary of her death, my brother and I have decided to cycle around the key places in her life with the aim of raising money for Leukaemia Research so other families can avoid losing a loved one too soon in this way.
The route, covering approximately 500 miles and total climbing of over 36,000 ft, starts at her birth place in Treharris, South Wales travelling up into the Brecon Beacons, through mid-Wales, before skirting the North Wales coast to Bangor where she was at college with Dad. We then turn inland and cross Snowdonia and head for Shrewsbury train station where Mum and Dad actually first met waiting on a platform for a connection (in more ways than one!). We continue on to Halesowen, West Midlands where they made their family home for the last 50 years. It is then on over the Malvern Hills and the Black Mountains back to Treharris to her grave before finishing our journey at her much loved and frequently visited holiday destination of Caswell Bay on the Gower Coast - her "spiritual" home.
Whatever amount you may choose to donate, large or small, we appreciate it.
