CASCAID - raising money for the NSPCC
Campaign by NSPCC (RCN 216401 and SC037717)
CASCAID unites colleagues (and friends and family), across the asset management industry to raise money for charity. Since 2018, we've raised over £5 million for CRUK, GOSH and the NSPCC.

Story

The NSPCC is the UK children’s charity focused on protecting, supporting and preventing children and young people from abuse. The NSPCC estimates 1 in 5 children have suffered abuse. Quite frankly this is an abhorrent statistic and one that I would find hard to believe had I not known friends that encounter this regularly in their line of work and those that have personally suffered. Furthermore, Covid-19 and lockdowns have amplified this suffering which, let’s be honest, is entirely preventable in a country like the UK.

I’ll raising money for the NSPCC by running an ultra-marathon footrace from 10-14th February.

It’s a hefty old distance totalling 230km, which roughly translates into 5 marathons in 5 days.

What’s more, just to add a bit of spice (or chill) to the occasion, the race takes place along the Arctic circle (North Sweden) in the middle of winter where temperatures usually range between -20 and -30 degrees C.

And if that wasn’t enough I’ll be wearing snow shoes and an 8kg backpack carrying a mandatory kit-list as long as your arm (including all my food, clothes, survival gear, first aid, etc for the trip).

P.s. to see first hand what the event entails, check out the behind-the-scenes documentary that covered the race in 2018. https://youtu.be/7H2AsHSa13U
