Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Early in 2014, the lives of the Townsend family changed forever after Dad suffered a serious stroke. Dad spent many weeks in hospital, which has been followed by a very long road to recovery. With help from Mam and the rest of the family, as well as therapists, physios and the support of our wonderful NHS, Dad is well down this road of recovery, but with still a little way further to go.
Earlier this year, I teamed up with my good friend Gavin Davies to run 5 marathons between us in 5 weeks. We wanted to raise awareness and funds for the Stroke Association, who provide help and support for Stroke victims and their families, and fund research into projects looking at both prevention and recovery.
Following this challenge, the wider Townsend and Davies family wanted to add their support, and have joined forces to compete in the 2015 Great North Run on Sunday 13th September, once again in support of the Stroke Association.
Gavin and I will be joined in this event by my wife Clare and son Conor, and Gavin’s sister Sarah. Making up the rest of the team are my brothers Craig, Gavin and Martin, nieces Louise and Emma, and nephew Ross.
Whilst some of us have run this event before, for Sarah, Conor, Louise, Emma and Ross this will be their first Great North Run. Times are not important this year, we just want to focus on raising as much money as possible to recognise the strength and character of our fabulous parents, and raise money for a very worthy cause.
Thank you for anything you can give to help - it's very much appreciated!!!
Many thanks
Ali and Gav (on behalf of ‘Team Townsend and Davies’)
