Story

Katie's father-in-law, Terry, was unfortunately diagnosed with Parkinson's about 8 years ago. He is an incredible, gentle giant who loves life and has the most wonderful spirit. A true family man who would do anything for anyone. Terry has a loving wife, 3 sons and 2 grandchildren who he dotes upon and is adored by everyone he meets. Since his diagnosis, he has spent every day, working hard to battle like the warrior he is. We want to make so many more memories as a family and show our respect to the amazing man that is Terry. If he can battle so hard to fight this disorder, we know we can battle it out during the below challenge to raise funds for more research and treatment.

We will be taking part in the South Coast Challenge on the 3rd and 4th September 2022 where over the 2 days, we will be walking a total of 100 kilometers (approx. 62 miles)! This will take us about 20 hours (if we're lucky)!

An Eastbourne start, up Beachy Head, the magnificent Seven Sisters, and along the South Downs Way, with stunning views over the sea, to a Brighton half-way. Devil’s Dyke, and a few ups & downs lie ahead before historic Arundel comes into view after an amazing 100 km journey.

Training has well and truly begun, including gym classes, extensive treks, night walking, blisters and tears :-) but we are determined to do Terry and the rest of our family proud.

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition that effects around 145,000 adults in the UK alone and is caused by a lack of Dopamine in the body. The three main symptoms of this cruel disorder are tremors (shaking), slowness of movement and muscle stiffness.

Parkinson's UK is an amazing organisation that funds ground breaking research to consign the condition to the history books as well as providing support for those affected and their families.

This is where we are asking for your support to help us reach our goal and to spur us on in accomplishing this huge challenge.
