Story

G&T Racers

East London madmen James Rutt and Lloyd Morgan take on the 2012 rickshaw run.
Starting in Cochin, kerrala in the south to Shillong, in the north eastern tip of India, covering roughly 3500 km over in a supposed 14 days.

Our vehicle of choice is the humble Tuk-tuk, aka the Rickshaw. A 149 CC 3 wheeled pram. Capable of just 55 kmph, limited legally to 45kmph (it they're watching).
Used mostly in the city's of Asia, Not even the Indians push them to this extreme.

Mountains, jungles and river deltas are just some of the hurdles our trusty steed will have to rise to, us on the other hand will have Indian traffic, bandits, and mosquitos to contend with. With cricket bats, Bombay gin and tonic under arm we'll have no problems here..

James, an Oxford born toff has a background in racing classic cars and has travelled around the world and experienced many incredible things, this on the other hand will be the endurance race to rival any. In fact this may be the endurance race to end all endurance races! James 'the tonic' Rutt (duly named as he is un able to handle the gin) would put Prince William to shame in a "well to do" line out! Like a thorough bred, He'll be representing the Raj on this epic adventure, making absolutely sure the very English flag is flying throughout the trip.

Lloyd "the Gin" Morgan, the Essex grown "Mockney" has driven in similar adventures before, such as the 2006 Mongol rally, the 2009 Mototaxi junket across south america and his own Sri Lankan Tuk-tuk adventures in 2010 and 2011, each time telling all it would be his last adventure, mostly as he didn't think he'd survive. however, laughing in the face of adversity he's bounced back to challenge James on this next ridicules adventure raising money for more great charities.

The charities this year will be:

The Frank water project, a charity that has been working with the Naandi Foundation since they began funding clean water projects in India. Naandi, which in Sanskrit means “a new beginning”, was founded in 1998 and is now one of the largest and fastest growing social sector organisations in India working to make poverty history. In essence, FRANK Water helps further sustainable efforts to provide Safe Drinking Water to deprived communities in rural India, which were hitherto destined to consume contaminated water.

Our personally chosen charity this year, close to our own hearts will be the Alzheimer's association.

Lloyd's father had Alzheimer's, so he know's first hand how this terrible condition can affect loved ones. The Alzheimer's association is in constant research to try and find cures and medicines that can delay the onset of this debilitating and often terminal condition.

How can you help us?

In essence we want your money, none of which will fill our pockets, all donations go straight to the charities.  We will do (almost) anything to secure your sponsorship.
You could sponsor us to wear your face on our T-shirt, pay for your logo or picture to go on the Tuk-tuk or make us do silly things at your request. Let our world be your oyster,

let us know what you'd like us to do.

Tally Ho..
