Story

The Challenge a.k.a You're Doing What?!

In a few month's time I will be getting married to my dearest friend, Stephen; which means that the most exciting day of my life is just around the corner... the day I get to cut off all my bloomin' hair!!*

*Mother-in-Law Disclaimer: My "most exciting day" does not include our Wedding Day which is obviously much, much more important ;)

The day after we tie the ribbon knot, drink from the quaich, sign the papers, and - most importantly - have a right good party, I'm heading to the hairdressers (location TBC) to face the clippers.

The hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk who provide real-hair wigs, free of charge, to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland, that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment. I'm sure my hair will love to be in a good home where it is more appreciated than with my ungrateful self!

Whilst cutting my hair to pixie length would be enough to pass the 30cm length recommended by the LPT, that's just not as fun, so I'm going all the way!

About my chosen charity - a.k.a The Serious Bit

In the past few years the road I have been on has not had the most even of footing, with jaggy stones of depression and loose gravel of anxiety making me stumble and sometimes fall. Despite this, I remain on course thanks the support and compassion of my work colleagues, friends, and family.

SAMH is Scotland's leading mental health charity, which works hard every day to spread awareness, support, and understanding for those who are affected by the complex and various issues surrounding mental health. I hope that you share my feelings on this deeply important cause and find a few spare pennies to help spread their message of love, recognition, and respect.

Stretch Goals

If seeing me aw slap-heid just doesn't cut it, I've decided on a few hair-raising incentives to get you interested:

Permy Princess: Get to £500 and I'll get my hair cut while wearing my Wedding Dress!

A Cut Above: Get to £1000 and I'll get a pattern, based on your suggestions, shaved in to the cut!

The Afro (Go Big or Go Home): Get to £10,000 and I'll keep it that way a whole year and run 10k every month of 2017. (I'll need the rest of 2016 to prepare!!)
