As many of our colleagues are observing the Islamic month of Ramadan, we have come up with a charity fundraising opportunity which hopefully everyone can take part in.

We have a list our colleagues who have volunteered to take part in a sponsored fast to raise money for Planet Mercy (Charity No: 1150069). We will be doing this on Wednesday 13th April; not eating or drinking from sunrise till sunset.

The charity is currently working on an initiative called 'Project Iftar' to provide evening meals to 150-200 refugee families and asylum seekers living in Lancaster, for the 30 days of Ramadan.

They are relying on donations to keep the project running for the full month. They have been provided with a venue in the city centre to operate each evening, but the current target to provide meals stands at around £14,000.

In addition, the charity also aims to provide continuous community support with the money raised after Ramadan.
