Story

The Breast Screening Unit at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.

1 in 8 women will get breast cancer at some point in their lives. Fortunately, breast cancer treatment is very successful so the majority of these women will be cured.

At the Luton and Dunstable Hospital's Breast Unit we  have developed our services so that we can offer state of the art treatment with oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction using a variety of techniques. In this way we are hoping to benefit patients by improving their quality of life after surgery.

We are raising money for equipment to help further improve our quality of care; an ultrasound machine to help surgeons identify more accurately the tumour position in surgery, and a portable x-ray machine that will help show if the tumour has been completely removed to try to avoid patients needing to return for further surgery to get clear margins.

                                   Thank you for your support!
