Story

The Breast Screening Unit at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.

This is the second biggest Breast Screening Service in the UK, our services not only cover the unit at the L&D but also all the mobile units out and about in our community. Our service diagnoses on average 500 cancers every year, many come from early screening. 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer at some point in their lives. Fortunately, breast cancer treatment is very successful so the majority of these women will be cured.

It is not all about the ladies, Men get breast cancer too and are also diagnosed within this service!

We continually raise funds for this unit and did purchase the Ultrasound machine and the portable x-ray machine.

We are now looking to refurbish our whole unit as with 55,000 people coming through our services each year you can imagine it is well used.

Patients coming through our doors are anxious and worried and so we aim to provide the best environment that we can, alongside our amazing care this will really make a difference to our patients.

Thank you for your support!
