Update:

Sunday 4th March 2012

Dear All

I've Done It!!!!!

I managed to do the cycle ride as planned on Sunday 4th March 2012, despite very difficult weather conditions.

We set off around 10 in the morning. The weather was terrible, heavy rain and the temperature was 2 degrees, but we decided to go ahead with it. Early on in the cycle ride, there was a steep hill down and then a steep hill up where an old railway bridge had been taken out. It was so steep, we had to get off our bikes and walk. By the time we reached the halfway point, it was raining very heavily. We were all soaked. It took us around 45 mins to reach Teversal (the half way point). We warmed up with a hot choc and a cake then we set off again.
The second half was mostly flat so the going was not as tough. Just after we had started cycling again, it started to sleet. Our hands despite wearing gloves were numb with the cold. We ploughed on determinedly and in around 45 mins the finish was in sight. With a final burst of energy we passed the finish line. What a relief!
Afterwards we went to the pub, had a Sunday dinner and warmed up. What an eventful day!
A big thank you to Dad, Hannah (friend), Alex (next door neighbour) and George who rode with me.
Thank you for all of your help and support!  Your kind donations have now reached £165, smashing my target of £135.  Donations are still coming in through our Just Giving website www.justgiving.com/freyabaker I am really pleased to have raised so much for The Childrens Liver Disease Foundation.

Dear All

As some of you know, I am doing a sponsored 5 mile cycle ride in aid of the Children's Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF).
I have chosen to do this because my cousin has liver disease.  She has had fantastic support from them over the years.
CLDF has a sponsored day called Big Yellow Friday, to raise awareness and money. This year Big Yellow Friday is on 2nd March, so I am doing my cycle ride on 4th March.
For more information about Big Yellow Friday please see www.bigyellowfriday.org
I hope to travel the local Phoenix Greenways Trails.  These are the old disused railway tracks that connected the local coal mining pits: Pleasley, Brierley and Huthwaite.

Wish me luck!

Thank you.

Love from Freya :) x
