As a member of the 9th battalion Parachute Regiment, I took part in the 1944 D-day assault in France, where I was wounded in both legs, and taken prisoner. With the aid of the French resistance, I was able to escape. After several months in hospital I managed to rejoin my battalion in late October, which enabled me to take part in the Ardennes offensive and Rhine crossing. To celebrate my 90th birthday, revisit memories from my time in the Parachute Regiment & raise money for Cancer Research UK, I am going to be doing a tandem skydive on Friday 18th September (rescheduled date) at the Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent.
