This ride is a personal challenge for me and has absorbed 10 months of my life and my families. My good friend Colin Isles does mad things and he asked me do do this challenge with him back in October 2017.
Cycling 980 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats over a 9 day period. Approximately 110 miles a day. We cycle in height terms up the side of mount Everest twice, its over 52000 feet of climbing.
At the start of November 2017 I started my training indoors with 3 sessions a week and then more time at weekends.
The weather improved so the training went outdoors and as the months flew by so did the hours in the saddle and miles on the road.
The furthest I've cycled so far in a session is 103 miles.
During my training I realised that if I'm putting in all this hard work I should at least raise some money for charity.
I met Ed Walker the founder of Hope into Action whilst we were both taking our sons to City of Peterborough Mini Hockey on Sunday mornings.
Chatting to Ed I found out that he ran a charity to help homeless people. And that not all homeless people were the ones you saw on streets in the middle of the city.
I wanted to help him and thought that my challenge could help his charity and some of the people in Peterborough.
Thank you to all those to take time to read and donate.
