I have been visiting a great NSPCC project called Street Matters, officially known as Sexual Exploitation Services. It is a unique NSPCC service based in Whitechapel with a small team of practitioners qualified in social or youth work. The team work with young women aged 12-21 vulnerable to sexual exploitation including young women who have been sexually exploited and are trafficked into the UK from all corners of the world to work in the brothels of London (oh yes). 

The impact of their work in their local area has been very apparent: Tower Hamlets is now very aware of sexual exploitation, forced marriage and trafficking as a result of their intervention and as a result of the Child Protection training they offer to professionals such as police, social workers, health professionals. Were it not for Street Matters so many young women would be left to fend for themselves, in, as you can imagine, totally horrendous circumstances.

I am now raising £1,000 pounds to make the space where the young women meet, at Street Matters, just a bit more comfortable, a new carpet, a spruce up of their main meeting area. We all know, from our own lucky and comfortable environment, how nicer life feels with well looked after and well maintained physical surroundings.

I need 100 friends to donate £10. That is all that is needed. I know I often reach out to my friends and beg, push and cajole for donations... but please understand I do it for what I believe is a massively desperately needy cause. Please help me on this occasion as well. Thank you.
