Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I was four years old my mum was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis; a degenerative auto-immune disease of the central nervous system. It has changed her life; taking its toll on her mobility over the last 22 years and resulting in her needing full time care from my dad.
Every Monday she visits the Chilterns MS centre in Wendover, Bucks. Mum and Dad speak very highly of the services they provide, but have both often told me how they rely purely on charitable donations. Their services are constantly in high demand and they want to offer more to patients, for example, greater use of the hydrotherapy pool (which they currently have to hire out to bring in additional income)
There is no known cure for MS, and the NHS provides no long-term treatment for people diagnosed with the condition. Even private healthcare providers, for those who can afford it, do not provide long term treatment. The centre treats 300 people each week and only ask patients to donate what they can afford. They provide all sorts of treatment and care to patients and carers, from much needed physiotherapy to hydrotherapy to support groups for carers.
The is the first time I have entered a sporting event to raise money - so I thought I would go all out and enter the Olympic distance triathlon. This is a 1.5km swim followed by a 40km bike ride and then a 10km run. I will be training every week from now until 8th August to get myself in shape for the event which will take me 3 or 4 hours to complete! Your donations will really help me stay motivated and raise money for this amazing cause. I will be very grateful for whatever you can spare. Thank you.
