Story
I am going to attempt to cycle 5817 miles from Yate International Academy to Kampala, Uganda before July 2016 to raise money for a school expedition I am running. We are raising funds to visit a school in a refugee camp for the Acholi children.
Whilst in Uganda, the students will teach the local Acholi children and work with the communities there helping to improve their lives. Sadly the Acholi people group were forced to flee their tribal homeland in the north east of Uganda during the 1990's when the Lords Resistance Army was terrorising the area in horrific ways. They are now living in very basic conditions with no running water, electricity or land-rights and most of the children are unable to go to school.
This trip also will give out own students the chance to learn extraordinary skills in team working and team building. It will also give our students an opportunity to learn valuable life skills and increase their self-confidence whilst giving them an insight into other cultures and lives of others during this once in a lifetime experience.
I will be cycling to work everyday to achieve this, making this challenge also better for the environment.
As a team we must fundraise at least £20,000. So please give generously and all money raised will go towards the whole team fund!!
