This year I am taking part in two challenges for the YMCA. The first – Bruges 2022 – was a 134 mile ride from Redhill to Bruges in one day on Saturday 11 June. We had a very early start – 3.00am – but the weather and wind was with us and we made it into Bruges just before 8.00pm by the town hall clock.
The second – King Alfred's Way MTB Challenge – is a circular 220 mile off-road ride coming up in late July. The KAW is a challenging trail along many of England's iconic Ways. There will be a lot of climbing (approx 13,000 feet) with the reward of some fantastic views.
Duncan is stepping up again to support us – a role as demanding as the ride itself!
Please support me and our YMCA. They do great work in our local community and this year are focusing on their youth work. The current financial and post-Covid crises are having a devastating effect on our youngsters and they need support now more than ever. The YMCA provide accommodation for homeless youngsters, counselling for those with mental health issues, run several youth clubs and much, much more.
