My sister and I have set this page up in memory of our Mum, Fran Harris, who sadly passed away on Thursday 23rd April 2020. She bravely battled stomach cancer for just under two years since being diagnosed in July 2018. She fought until the end and was surrounded by all her family. We are still coming to terms with the loss and can't believe she has gone, but we take comfort from knowing that near the end she said she will always be watching over us.

Some people have said they would like to do something to honour mum's memory and it was her wish that if anyone wanted to do something, instead of flowers, she would prefer them to make a donation to Weston Hospicecare. The Hospice helped mum greatly whilst she was poorly and were a big support to her and us as a family. It was a cause close to her heart.

A bit about Mum: She was born on 1st October 1948 in Liverpool and this is where she grew up. After many different jobs, including working in a sweet factory and being a chalet maid, she eventually trained as a nurse in Liverpool, before getting a job at Birmingham Accident Hospital. This is where she met Dad. In 1974, due to Dads work, he relocated to Burnham-on-Sea and after a few different nursing jobs in the South West, Mum moved to Winford Orthopaedic Hospital, near Bristol. They courted for seven years before Dad finally popped the question and they married on 20th September 1980 at Maghull Church near Southport. Mum soon moved in with Dad, to The Cot, in Berrow, the bungalow where we grew up and dad still lives. 

In July 1983, mum gave birth to Kirsty and in March 1985 she gave birth to me (Tracey). Mum loved spending time with her family and she was so happy that she got to see me marry Simon in April 2016 and Kirsty marry Paul in December 2019. Her most recent joy was her grandchildren Percy and Molly. She absolutely adored them, it gave her great happiness to see them and she was always babysitting and spoiling them.

It would have been Mum and Dad's 40th wedding anniversary in September this year but they would have been together for 47 years. 

Mums friends were also very important to her. Those of you that knew her, will know how generous and kind hearted she was. She was always doing things for other people. She would do absolutely anything for anyone and even when she was poorly herself, would always be trying to help others. Whether it be taking people to hospital appointments, doing shopping for them, or simply visiting them to make sure they were okay, Mum was happiest when she was helping others. She would never want to burden anyone with how poorly she was feeling and was selfless to the end, always taking time to listen to others and help where she could.

In terms of hobbies, Mum loved the theatre and since we were young we have many memories of family trips to the theatre, where we always sat in the gods and had questionable views. In later life Mum found another hobby which was golf. She loved the game (and the social side of it) and really looked forward to getting out on the course, but was devastated when she became too poorly to play. Mum was also an amazing cook and many of you will associate her with some of her signature dishes, such as lasagne, mushroom or courgette quiche or her yummy strawberry pavlova. 

She really was the was the best wife, Mum and Nanna anyone could ever ask for and she has left a huge hole in our lives. We know she will be missed greatly by all that knew her. 

We have not yet confirmed a date for her funeral but as only the immediate family will be allowed to attend, we will be holding a memorial service and celebration of her life, once we are all allowed to congregate together.
