Story
Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page.
As most of you will be aware, immediately following the birth of my second baby in early December 2015 at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, I unfortunately became very poorly.
Following a number of tests I was transferred from the Maternity Unit to Intensive Care.
The care I received from the Doctors and Nurses in Intensive Care was above and beyond. I was provided with one to one care and support from a named nurse around the clock, each and every one going out of their way to make me feel cared for and positive. Aside from the brilliant medical care they provided, despite the long hours the nurses worked, the emotional support they gave me at such a difficult time being separated from my new born was faultless.
Alongside the fabulous work of the critical care team, I was very fortunate to be under the care of dedicated Consultants and Doctors from the Gastroenterology team, who visited on a regular basis throughout the days to provide their input and support in my care. Working seamlessly alongside critical care they worked to diagnose and cure me in a timely manner, and I was so grateful to be discharged home prior to Christmas to return to family.
I consider myself very fortunate that I am able to benefit from the services of such a wonderful hospital, staffed by truly amazing people.
As I was lucky enough to gain a place in the London Marathon this year I really wanted to be able to give something back. As it is thanks to these wonderful people that I am healthy enough to run the marathon, as a small token of my appreciation to everyone who cared for me during my time in hospital, I’m running to both raise awareness of the wonderful work the Lister Hospital do, and to raise as much money as possible for the Intensive Care and Gastroenterology Wards to continue this work.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, any donation will be hugely appreciated.
