Hull Marathon · 18 September 2016

We offer support, educate and fund research to help those affected by GBS/CIDP

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2008 I suffered from GBS, which left me paralysed and in hospital for fourteen weeks. After months of rehabilitation in 2010 I participated in the London Triathlon and with kindness and generosity of many people raised in excess of £23,000.

2016 marks the centenary of the first diagnosis of GBS and the team of Sam Havler, Mark Eggleston, Richard Eggleston and myself are running the Hull Marathon. We have an additional fundraiser in Lucy Eggleston, who along with Mark is participating in the Great North Run the week before the Marathon. As Lucy is under 18 she is unable to join us in the Marathon.

We are raising funds for GAIN and Matthew Good Foundation. Matthew died five years ago whilst running the Humber Bridge Half Marathon. Matthew was well known within the local industry and a fellow sailor at The Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club. The Matthew Good Foundation raises funds to spearhead a project called the International Institute of Race Medicine www.racemedicine.org. The goal is to improve safety standards in marathons, medical best practice and safety awareness among runners.

We are unable to raise funds for both causes on one page, therefore to donate to GAIN please stay on this page, to donate to Matthew Good Foundation please visit www.justgiving.com/matthewgood-foundation

Many thanks for all your support.

Paul, Sam, Mark, Richard and Lucy
