Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We're doing the Santa Run 5K in Victoria Park on December 8 to raise money for the Canal & River Trust.
My siblings and I want walkers to be safer on the canal towpath, which is our walk to school- but sometimes it is too dangerous because of scary cyclists who don't share the space. Our little brother was shoved into the canal, and we've heard of that happening to other children and babies too- and also that some grandparents were hurt and someone's kitten was killed. It's so sad because the towpath is for everyone. Most cyclists are friendly, but some think the towpath is only theirs, and we have to just jump out of their way so they can keep speeding along at top speed.
We know the Canal & River Trust wants to make it safer for kids and other walkers, but it is hard to do without money. So we want to raise them money so they can make big signs that don't fade that teach cyclists that pedestrians have priority. Let's do good sharing! And we have other ideas to help too, if there is money left over, like speed humps or something to slow cycles down at the most dangerous spots. Or speeding tickets that give more money to fix the problem.
Thank you for your money! Also please come run or walk with us! Our team is Canal Kids- just follow the link.
