Story
Thanks for your support of The Firewalk for PC Challenge 2018!
Both my husband, Tom and my son, Timmy, have Pachyonychia
Congenita (PC), an ultra rare and ultra painful skin condition. There are only 814 people in the world genetically confirmed to have PC and only 4 in Wales! PC causes them to get blisters on the soles of their feet, which are then covered in hard calluses (see photos below)! This means that a simple thing like walking is often quite painful. Currently there is NO cure for PC.
We are lucky right now because Timmy is still able to play football, one of his favourite activities but after training sometimes he is unable to walk because it hurts so much. The heat makes his feet worse and the skin often cracks.
As both Tom and Timmy experience pain every single day of their lives, for me this Firewalk is a perfect way of raising money to help researchers find a cure. The PC Project Charity is a very small charity working hard to find treatments to stop the pain and all funds raised from the Firewalk will go directly to them. The charity also has a sponsor who will match everything raised, making your donations go further!
The Firewalk will take place on Friday September 7, at Mumbles Cricket Club, Swansea. It will be a family event with a BBQ and games for the children so please come out and support us on the day as well!!
As part of a family affected by PC, thank you from the
bottom of my heart.
Julie
PS. And just so you know, donating through JustGiving is
simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving -
they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
It's also easy to donate by text! Simply text: FWPC99 with the amount you want to sponsor (e.g £x) to 70070. You'll then receive a link which will allow you to add Gift Aid at no extra cost.
Thanks again!
