South Wales Fire and Rescue Service employees take on
Open Water Swim Challenge
This September, a group of South Wales Fire and Rescue
Service (SWFRS) employees and friends will be taking part in a testing Open
Water Swim Challenge to fundraise for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The challenge will take place on the 30th of
September, the swimmers will tackle 13 miles starting in the Bristol Channel
off Western Super mare and finishing in Barry Island.
The biggest challenge for the swimmers will be the weather
and wave strength, which, as they swim against the current, it could actually
increase the distance with the push back!
Despite this, our swimmers are excited to be taking part in
the challenge! September will be here before we know it, and they are currently
taking their training seriously with regular distance swims off the South Wales
coast.
As well as testing their fitness and endurance, the swimmers
are also excited to be representing SWFRS. Also fundraising for The Fire
Fighters Charity who support the mental, physical and social needs of all
serving and retired members of the UK’s Fire Family.
