Story
On Sunday 2nd October I’m going to be running the London Marathon in memory of my wonderful Mum and for Bowel Cancer UK.
Mum was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in February last year and we lost her in October at the age of 58. Losing her and watching her struggle with cancer has been devastating for my family and everyone who loved her. I’d love to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity to help save lives and prevent other people having to go through the same.
This will be my first marathon and I’m no natural runner… I’ve started training and am really nervous about what I’ve let myself in for but I know Mum will be with me, cheering me on. Always my biggest supporter, when I ran a half marathon five years ago she attempted to run alongside me!
Cancer can happen to anyone and it can happen so quickly. Every 15 minutes someone is diagnosed with bowel cancer; over 42,000 people every year. And over 16,000 loved ones die from the disease. Your support will fund vital services and lifesaving research to help stop people dying of bowel cancer and improve the quality of life of those living with the disease.
The thought of the people I’m raising money for is what keeps my legs moving when I’m out training. Every donation big or small will mean the world to me.
