Story

Hi I am a disabled lady who used to be very active and was training to become a paediatric (childrens) nurse.  Half way through my course I took a break, I was very tired a lot and wanted to spend some time with my daughter as she was growing up fast.

My illness changed my lifestyle completely, I have a neurological condition that has left me paralised from the waist down, along with other difficulties. However my hair has grown a lot as muscle spasms have prevented me from having my hair cut (scissors near my head and neck when it jolts back regularly did not seem a good idea!), but if I leave my hair any longer I will be sitting on it, so I thought it should go to good use.  This is where the Little Princess Trust and a head shave come in.  They are a fantastic charity who help children feel more normal again, and little girls can still dream of becoming princesses.

Please help all you can as a real hair wig for a child would often retail at about £1,500 but with donations the charity canget them made up for an average cost of £350 and supply the children who need them free of charge. I would like to think that along with getting my hair they will also get the money it costs for them to get the wig.

When my daughter was six I faced a very scary night where I almost lost her due to complications arising after a routine operation. That first night in the resusitation room then in the high dependancy unit sat beside her covered in her blood I was terrified.  For me this was only a short experience, but there are many families out there who must face these fears for much longer as their child battles cancer, my heart goes out to them, and my hair will be going towards creating a wig for a child to help them through a very tough time.

My daughter, now a teenager had her hair cut recently, and her hair that was cut off as she went conciderably shorter will also be going to the Little Princess Trust to become a real hair wig for another child who wants a little bit more normality, to look like their friends as they go through their treatment.
