Story
I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU for checking out my 'Just Giving' page! Really appreciate your support! :o)
Some of you may know that I spent two weeks in August 2010 in a city called Kerch, eastern Crimea - Southern Ukraine.
While I was out there a group of people from my Church and I worked in a facility called the Hope Centre - a place where Orphans in Southern Ukraine can have a life changing summer camp experience. For these two weeks, these kids (ranging from 4-16 years of age) enjoy great food, competitive games, swim in the Black Sea, and learn creative activities.
I would love the chance to return again this summer, as the Hope Centre had such a postive impact on me!
So...to raise funds towards the cost of the trip in August, I will be cycling from London to Paris in July!
The aim is to get there on a Fixed wheel bicycle (in other words, I will constantly be peddling...those who are familiar with fixed gear cycling may understand the added difficulty!) and have given myself three days MAXIMUM to reach the Eiffel Tower (via New Haven), before spending four days making my way to Calais, and arriving back on home turf via Dover.
Intially, my intention was to build a Bicycle from scratch for the Paris trip, but due to cost and time, I hope to modify my existing bike so that it is a bit lighter and more comfortable.
I am currently training by riding on average 20 miles a day, and have managed to do a few 60 mile rides, but will soon step this up by riding up to Brighton 2-4 times, with the aim to get there within 6 hours.
I would be EXTREMELY grateful for any donations you can make towards this sponsored cycle, or even directly towards the trip to Ukraine!
And I can also promise you that I will invest in a cycling helmet for both the Brighton and Paris cycles! :o)
Thanks again, and wish me Luck!
