Story
As Sir David Attenborough said: “The truth is: the natural world is changing. And we are totally dependent on that world. It provides our food, water and air. It is the most precious thing we have and we need to defend it.”
If you know me, you'll know that I'm a keen eco-warrior who loves to see the planet thrive (and a secret mermaid)! This is why I've decided to run the London Marathon for the Shark Trust, an ocean conservation charity dedicated to working towards species protection, fisheries management and responsible trade.
Sharks and rays are some of the ocean's most amazing animals. Present in our seas for 400 million years, they are vital and valuable, yet extremely vulnerable. We've all heard about the horrors of overfishing and shark finning - and this has left around a 1/3 of all shark, skate, ray and chimaera species endangered with extinction, largely due to the impact of unsustainable fisheries.
Sharks are fundamental to our ecosystem - they keep food webs in balance and are vital for encouraging biodiversity in our seas. Sharks deserve to live peacefully and need people to fight their corner. The Shark Trust works globally to ensure endangered species of sharks are suitably protected, while also pushing for science-based fisheries management for all species to ensure long term sustainability.

Any donations are really really appreciated! xx
