Firstly I am terrified of heights !! but I have decided to skydive to help the Elephants.

 As a co founder of Mahouts Foundation I have decided to raise much needed funds for chain free night time habitats at Boon Lott's Elephant sanctuary in Thailand. The Elephants living at BLES have the most amazing life living free from abuse and chain free all day. They spend their days grazing freely in forests, socialising and bathing in rivers and ponds. They are currently on very long chains at night due to the risk of wandering onto neighbouring farmland. The night time habitats will enable them to be free in their chosen social groups all night.

We fully support the initiative of chain free corrals and the message being sent across Asia, Elephant Aid International founder Carol Buckley is changing the way captive Elephants are managed with her "Chain Free means Pain Free" campaign.

By introducing the corrals to BLES this sends a strong message within Thailand that there is an alternative to Elephants being chained for much of their lives. The current management within working camps is to chain the Elephants whenever they are not working. Chaining both front feet together is common to further restrict movement.

By showing what is possible and leading by example Katherine Connor has the vision through her work at BLES to change this and we fully support this initiative in our work at Mahouts Foundation.

We are raising the funds through Mahouts Foundation to raise awareness and help us in our work with tourists and tour companies, by showing the alternatives and through our support of them we will in time change the way tourists choose to spend their time with Elephants.

All funds raised through the skydive will go straight to the fund for the areas to be developed at BLES.
