There's no challenge like a no fried food challenge, especially during Ramadan. Especially ... after an 18-hour fast where the pakoras and samosa's just satisfy the fried food bloated belly need. Alas - this is all for charity. :)
Think about it...
What's your favourite food to eat at Ifthar (breaking of the fast) time? Can you resist the smell and taste of sizzling samosas, palatable pakoras, juicy jelabi? Because we know the most of us can't... which is why the Inspirited Minds Outreach Team is shunning fried food for 20 days in Ramadan, to raise awareness and funds to continue the vital services provided by Inspirited Minds (a faith based mental health charity).
With a statistic that shows 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem each year, the work we do is more important than ever before. Those from BAME backgrounds would struggle further. There aren't enough services catering to the mental health of the muslim community specifically.
Through Imam and Muslim leader's trainings, seminars, workshops at schools and universities on mental health issues particularly in the muslim community; and providing counselling services, we are making a difference. But through your help, we can make the impact greater.
So support us with your words, your spreading of this page, your donations and your encouragement (we'll need it!).
One more thing... I am asking if you can kindly sponsor me £1(at least) for each day that I don't eat fried food. It will be hard, but I assure you - my desire and stamina to stay healthy... erm... who am I kidding? That's an understatement, staying healthy during Ramadan is a joke. However, I am determined to pull it off. So help a sister out, pretty please?
