Story
Naturally, we all hope to never be in need of the services of a Hospice but, in January 2017, my mum was given a life expectancy of only 18 months, due to terminal cancer.
I am fortunate enough to be able to say that my mum is still with us and doing well, with medical management, but these events certainly draw into focus that, at any point, any of us could be in need of the help that Hospices provide, which is why I have chosen to take on this challenge in aid of the Garden House Hospice.
These services, including a vast range of life-enhancing treatments, therapies, support networks and end of life care, are provided for free, however, last year it cost a massive £5 million to run the Hospice (as well as many, many hours of time from wonderful volunteers).
For this challenge, I will climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! Africa's Highest Peak - at nearly 6000 metres - this will be a huge challenge!
