We work together to end homelessness

Story

Family Business United and Plan Insurance have launched a national campaign to help homeless and vulnerable people this Christmas.

Announcing their second charity Christmas campaign in association with Plan Insurance, Family Business United is launching a multi-faceted campaign in the run up to help the homeless and vulnerable at a time when others more fortunate are celebrating with their families.

Donate The Cost Of A Cuppa - Please make a donation to help us in our quest to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas.  All the funds raised will go towards Emmaus and the fantastic work they do to supporting people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home and meaningful work in a community setting.

Join Our Santa Dash - Donations of blankets, warm clothes, scarves and gloves and health essentials are welcome as part of the campaign with all items required by Friday 7 December in order for them to be distributed as part of the campaign.  The team will undertake a week long series of visits to regional towns and cities to collect the items that will then be distributed to homeless charities in these towns and cities so the help goes is local supporting the communities in which the family firms are operating.

Starting off in Manchester on December 3 visits are planned in our festive taxi to a number of family firms along the way who are signed up to collect items and/or to act as regional collection centres for those wishing to join the campaign but not have a visit.

The route:

Manchester - December 3
Carlisle - December 4
Glasgow- December 5
Leeds - December 6
Leicester - December 6
Colchester - December 7
Gatwick December 7

During the trip we are happy to visit other family firms en route who can make their donations directly to us, have photos with the team and the #FamBizSantaDash taxi and join the campaign on social media.

As Grant Georgiades, Managing Director of Plan Insurance who are partnering with Family Business United on the campaign adds, "As a family and a family business, the plight of the homeless at this time of the year is something that we want to try and do something about and to make a difference through this campaign, however small, is something that we are passionate about.  We are clear in our intentions to make a difference and the trip in the taxi and our fundraising efforts will add some fun to the event, helping to raise awareness and provide lots of content to share on social media too."

With figures from Shelter showing that there are more now than 250,000 homeless people in the UK today this campaign is clearly going to make a difference.

As Paul added, "We are keen to hear from anyone who wants to get involved with the campaign so please do not hesitate to get in touch, especially if there is an interest in supplying some of the items or for us to drop by in the taxi on the trip to collect things too."
