Noor Islamic Centre, in the south of London, will be a unique institution with the aim of providing, not only prayer facilities and Islamic education/outreach work, but a mentorship scheme for our youth led by successful elders to give them volunteering and community service opportunities; after-school and weekend tutorial classes in academic subjects led by fully qualified voluntary teachers; health education workshops led by doctors and health care professionals; fitness classes in a fully-fitted gym; a cemetery and social spaces/cafeteria. The centre is located in 14 acres of greenfield and woodland areas and will be surrounded by beautiful gardens designed by Emma Clark, an expert in Islamic gardens. The Eco-buildings will be designed by Marks Barfield, the creators of the iconic London Eye and most recently, the Cambridge Mosque.
