Story
Many people reading this, who are listeners of the podcast, will know that Jake and his wife welcomed a premature baby into the world in April 2022.
It's estimated that around 60,000 babies are born prematurely in the UK every year. This means that 1 in every 13 babies born in the UK will be born premature (before 37 weeks of pregnancy). While not every premature baby will need to be cared for on a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, many will.
Finley was 7 weeks premature and without the prior work and fundraising of Baby Beat, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal Preston Hospital wouldn't be what it is today, and Finley might not have had the care that he did during his three-week stay on NICU.
We want to raise as much awareness about premature birth, the specialist equipment, patient services, clinical care, local research and training that the vital funds raised by Baby Beat go towards. As well as this, the help that is available for parents of premature babies who can sometimes be forgotten about.
That's why we want to do as much as we can, with the platform that From the Finney is, to help raise vital funds so that Baby Beat can continue to do the vital work they do.
