Freddie’s 1st Birthday Fundraiser
As many of you will be aware, Friday 10th September would have been Freddie’s 1st birthday. Mark and I have decided to set up a birthday fundraiser for Freddie to raise money for the Forget Me Not fund in Freddie’s memory. I will include information on the Forget Me Not fund below. The Forget Me fund has helped us endlessly and continues to do so. PLEASE ensure you add the fund number 4639 to any donations so that they go directly to the Forget Me Not fund.
A week before Freddie was due, just 48 hours after we got married, we experienced every parents worst nightmare, we lost our son. Freddie’s heart stopped beating, unexpectedly and without explanation, on the 7th September and he was born sleeping on the 10th September. Our perfect baby became the brightest star in the sky. There are no words that can explain the heart break, trauma and utter devastation of the last year. On this day last year, we woke up as a newly married couple with absolutely everything to hope for, and then tomorrow our world fell apart. We have not and will not, stop fighting for Freddie. We are trying to navigate a world where our perfect fighter is no longer in our arms. For Freddie’s 1st birthday we thought it was apt to fundraise for the charity that helped us to make precious memories with our boy, and so much more.
Freddie Steven you will never know just how loved and missed you are. Our strong, precious lion 🦁
Please feel free to share, the more we can raise in Freddie’s memory, the better.
The Bereavement Services at Hampshire Hospitals relies almost entirely on charitable donations. The loss of a baby at any point in pregnancy or after birth is devastating. The Forget Me Not Fund helps to support families through this time by providing a bereavement suite in which parents can birth and spend as much time with their baby in a home from home environment within a quieter part of maternity. The fund pays for counselling, holistic therapies and the running of a support group post loss, provides miscarriage support packs, comfort bags and memory making opportunities for every family. All money raised will enable these vital services to continue.
