Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I was fortunate to attend an event at the Natural History Museum where David Attenborough spoke about how his passion for the natural world was inspired by his childhood visits to the museum. That passion was translated into a lifetime devoted to understanding our planet and sharing what he discovered through television documentaries which so many of us have enjoyed over the years, most recently through the Blue Planet series. My 7 year old son (an avid Blue Planet fan and a considerable expert on dinosaurs and the animal kingdom) has been visiting the museum since he was very small.
So when Airbnb asked if anyone would like to run the London marathon to raise funds for the NHM, I jumped at the opportunity. Aside from a world-leading museum that delights the millions of visitors who cross its threshold every year, this is an organisation that investigates and researches the stuff that matters from biodiversity to sustainability of food sources to the solar system. It aims to inspire young people across the country through its teaching resources and travelling exhibits like Dippy, the museum's diplodocus skeleton which is currently touring the UK.
Protecting our planet for the future is one of the greatest challenges our species has ever faced. The NHM needs our help to continue to inspire young people and embrace our role in this great endeavour.
