Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Ewan MacDonald & Gavin Johnston's JustGiving page.
Myself (Ewan MacDonald) and Gavin Johnston have been speaking about doing a charity cycle for a children's charity for sometime now and so when time allowed we put our heads together to try and come up with a new challenge, one that would really push us to our limits and possibly beyond! We really wanted to be as tough on ourselves as possible and that's when the NC500 for Archie was born.
We have given ourselves a 40 hour time limit to complete the whole North Coast 500 route on our bikes which includes the notorious Applecross Pass! (if you haven't seen it, google it!) Starting on 28th August 2019 from Inverness Castle, we will each be cycling in 4 hour shifts to complete the route before returning to Inverness Castle on the 30th August.
We have chosen the Archie Foundation as they make a real difference to sick children when they are in hospital or need long term medical treatment. The Archie Foundation provides extras that make the experience of being in hospital as positive as it can possibly be for children and their families.
The extras can include:
- Child-friendly, age appropriate hospital spaces
- Advanced medical equipment
- Enhanced staff training
- Emergency support for families
- Specialist staff posts
- Toys, games, books and electronics
We wanted to choose a charity that could help impact the lives of sick children across Scotland and as The ARCHIE Foundation is the official charity of Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, the Highland Children’s Unit in Inverness and Tayside Children’s Hospital in Dundee, this fantastic charity was the perfect fit for us.
