Story
As many of you will know, we said goodbye to our beautiful daughter, Evie, on 16 November 2019. She was just 12 weeks old, and was born with several complex heart conditions which resulted in her being immediately rushed to Glasgow Children's Hospital.
Whilst Evie was considered special enough to get a private jet to the hospital, we had to wait for Hazel to be well enough to get discharged from Aberdeen after having a C-Section, then follow on later in the car. As you can imagine, we were in shock, and didn't know what to expect when we arrived - we anticipated sleeping on hospital floors and chairs in corridors. We will be forever grateful to Ronald McDonald House Glasgow, who provided us with free accommodation for the duration of our stay. Whilst being 5min walk from the hospital, we were able to have a comfy bed with our own bathroom (and an amazing shower, which we miss!). Knowing we could walk over and see Evie at any time was so helpful. We had access to laundry and kitchen facilities, and we are certain that Judah now thinks our house is really boring as there is no soft play area and slide in our kitchen! The house is beautiful, and kept to a really high standard - they do their very best to help you have a "home away from home".
Although our time there was incredibly stressful, and our departure wasn't the happy one we expected it to be, we don't know what we would have done without Ronald McDonald House.
Although they share the same name, Ronald McDonald House Glasgow are an independent charity and receive no funding from the restaurants. We want to raise money in memory of Evie, so that they can continue to support other families who find themselves away from home with the stress of having a child in hospital.
