Story
For our Bat Mitzvah project, we want to raise funds in memory of an Evie who was not able to celebrate her own Bat Mitzvah. Evie M heard about Evie's Night Owls at school and as Evie G's mum went to school with Evie Bladon's mum we felt like this was the perfect charity for us to support.
Both of us NEED our sleep - our friends all know we are the first asleep at sleepovers and we can get very ratty if we don't get enough sleep.
Please sponsor us to stay awake all night on Monday 25th July 2022 so we can raise money to help support Evie's Night Owls to help families with a child with a medical condition with overnight respite care to get the sleep we take for granted every night.
Thank you from Evie and Evie xx
There is some more information on Evie's Night Owls below:
Evie’s Night Owls is an overnight respite care project run by Camp Simcha in memory of Evie Bladon. After suffering from oxygen deprivation during her birth in 2012, Evie was born with severe brain damage. The trauma Evie had suffered during her birth resulted in multiple health issues including cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, epilepsy, severe visual impairment, as well as a number of other medical problems which unfortunately resulted in a limited life expectancy and the need for 24/7 care.
When parents have a child with a complex medical condition it can be difficult, sometimes impossible, to get a night’s sleep, have time for a rest or for parents to enjoy an evening out together. Evie’s Night Owls provides 1,500 hours of overnight respite care annually for Camp Simcha families costing £30,000 per year, with one night of respite costing a staggering £250.
