Story
Hi my name is Eve Pearson and on October 1st I will be running the Cardiff half marathon in support of McMillian Cancer, a charity which is very close to my heart.
In 2016 my mum was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and had to go through chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Mum never let this disease change who she was and was very determined in pushing through. Although I'm sure she had many bad days, she'd never let us see it and kept on smiling throughout. Her cheerful attitude and handling of treatments inspired loved ones to keep going and stay positive. Thankfully seven years on she is now in remission and is cancer free. However, for so many people with this disease it is not the case.
Each year at least 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer and not all of them get the support and love they need. Macmillan aims to change this and provide services of emotional, physical and financial support to those living with Cancer. All donations will go to the charity which works towards a cancer free world. I am running this marathon not just for my mum, but for all those who have been diagnosed with Cancer, providing support to them and their families.
