I have watched the London marathon since I was 19, thinking “ I will do that one day”.  Over the past six years the “want” to do it grew enough that I applied for a ballot place but was unsuccessful. I never had that one thing, that thing that makes you grab the opportunity and say “that’s it, I’m going to do it”. Now I have that “thing”, that reason to push that little bit harder.

In October 2017  aged 11 yrs my son was unexpectedly & completely out of the blue  diagnosed with retinitis. Pigmentosa. A genetic disorder that has caused him to loose his sight. You never  realise how much you  need charities until you are left in a confused, emotional state not knowing which way to turn for help, support, advice &  direction. And there they are, giving you some clarity, and knowledge to help you get the next steps right.  Currently there is no cure for retinitis pigmentosa. Retina Uk not only provide support , but with £170 can pay for researcher for one day. This could help to find a cure & maybe in the future  give people like my son back their sight. 

We always try to give a positive outlook, and help  our son to challenge himself everyday to achieve his personal goals, whatever they maybe. Help me to show that positivity & strength can make the seemly impossible possible.  This will be the biggest personal, emotional & physical challenge I’ve taken on & I want to smash it!  Every penny helps to provide things for families like ours. Not only are you helping to support the charity you are also helping to raise awareness into disabilities which are not always visible to people.
