Story
This year I have been affected by more tragic events than I am used to. With each person I know who has died I have made an effort to dwell on the good they brought to the world, and my life in particular. While reflecting on these thoughts I felt the urgent need to do something meaningful, or inspiring. My strengths lie in "doing hills", and I think that's about all i can think of. Seeing the news, a few days before my birthday, of Nick Gardener climbing all of the Munros aged 80 made it obvious what I had to do.
Giving myself a little more than the 10 days per year of life that Nick had, I will aim to climb em' all in one year. Starting on 8/8/22 and hoping to be finished by 8/8/23 I will bag all 282 Munro summits. Thats roughly 5.4 hills a week, while working full time. It wont be easy, but this is what I do for fun and it is my aim to enjoy as much of this challenge as I can.
I have chosen to raise money for Alzheimers Research UK as this was the disease that my mum dealt with for the last years of her life. It was extremely difficult to watch her decline and I want to do what little I can to help prevent other people going through that. I believe that by raising money for a cause that is meaningful to me I will feel accountable to complete this challenge.
I plan to share my journey through social media (instagram @emk_ski, facebook @emk.ski) so that interested people can keep track of the effort, but also so that I can promote this page and remind people to support the charity I have chosen. My inital goal is £1000, I think we've got this!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Should something such as injury or sickness upset my intended timeline then I will continue to complete the challenge as quickly as possible.
