In June I will be completing the Great North Swim in Windermere, raising money for Glencoe Mountain Rescue. Many of us were deeply affected by the tragic events of the avalanche in January where some wonderful friends sadly lost their lives or were badly injured. In memory of them and their spirit for ‘organised fun’ we have created this JustGiving page and a ‘triathlon of events’ – a marathon, swim and cycle.

I am swimming in particular for a friend whose love of people and the world we live in was second to none, and her infectious smile, generous and uplifting spirit will never be forgotten. I hope this swim reflects her ambition and love of the outdoors, alongside raising some money to support the wonderful efforts of the Mountain rescue team who bravely came to the help of our friends.
