Emmanuel College celebrates its 25^th anniversary this year. To commemorate this land mark, staff and students will be fundraising £25,000 to build a primary school in a township near Johannesburg in South Africa. Tembisa township is one of the toughest areas in South Africa for a child to grow up, with high rates of crime and desperate poverty. This primary school is being built in conjunction with Love Trust and the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. It will provide a good education, a safe haven and hope in the future for these children.

The Emmanuel Schools Foundation Support Service team will be supporting this event by raising sponsorship through Walking, Running or Cycling 6,000 miles (distance from UK to South Africa).

The Emmanuel Schools Foundation is sending 24 students to serve at a primary school in Tembisa Township near Johannesburg in South Africa. The students will help needy township children with basic reading, numeracy and physical education. The children come from severely disadvantaged backgrounds. Many come from families afflicted by AIDS and poverty. The average income in Tembisa is just $2 per day. Our students are also going to help construct a container school in the heart of Tembisa. This is an exciting project which will impact the lives of many of South Africa’s poorest children.
