Story
Help to beat lung cancer.
My wonderful Dad was diagnosed with Cancer of the Oesophagus which he put up a brave fight for nearly 2 years, in the last few months it had spread to his Lungs. And the worst thing is he wasn't a smoker and he very very rarely drank. It hurt us when doctors and nurses alike kept asking if he did either. He never should have had to suffer the way he did, and sadly he passed away on the 16th January 2012. I'm taking part in this walking Marathon in memory of him and to raise money to find a cure for this awful disease faster.
Lung Cancer is the second most common cancer in the UK, with around 108 people being diagnosed every day. The good news is that lung cancer rates in the UK are dropping thanks to fewer people smoking. Cancer Research UK has played a key role in raising the awareness of the dangers of tobacco. But there’s still more to do – sadly, progress in helping people with lung cancer survive has been slower than for some other cancer types.
Cancer Research UK is funded entirely by amazing supporters like you. By sponsoring me you can help more people survive lung cancer.
Every pound you donate really does make a difference to Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating lung cancer – so please sponsor me now!
Gift Aid it!
If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
