Recently my mum, Pamela Sutton was diagnosed with Secondary Breast Cancer.
A diagnosis of secondary breast cancer means that her cancer can be treated but it can’t be cured.
The aim is to control and slow down the spread of the disease, to relieve symptoms and to give her the best possible quality of life, for as long as possible. There are many treatments that can keep the cancer under control, often for many years.
This is why I’m asking for your help. I am currently in the process of organising a charity night on Saturday 15th November in the Newcastle House in Rothbury. My aim is to raise as much money as possible for the new Oncology Unit that has just opened in Alnwick Infirmary. My mum is currently travelling to the unit once every three weeks for her Chemotherapy treatment.
Having a new unit in Alnwick is making a massive difference to cancer patients that live in more rural areas. The purpose-built unit is based in the former Coquet Ward and the area has undergone a refurbishment of more than £200,000 to include the latest equipment and the best facilities for patients. The new nurse-led service will initially operate one day per week, extending to two days per week later in the year.
I ask for your help in the form of any donation you can make big or small. Together we can all make a difference.
Thank you! Xx
