Story
I am going to do a Skydive on the 31st May 2014 which is my Grandad's birthday, I am also a freelance photographer so I am going to be donating a percentage from my photos and photo gifts I sell Via my website and Facebook page.
My story behind the reason why I am wanting to raise money for Parkinson’s Uk all starts with one very special person in my family…….My Grandad.
My Grandad was a loving, caring, hardworking man, who couldn’t do enough for his family. He was a father of 4 and a Grandfather to 1.
He loved his plants and always worked in some type of gardening job until he couldn’t work anymore due to Parkinson’s.
He was diagnosed with Pure Parkinson’s at the age of 40 which first affected him by causing shakes on the right hand side and dragging of his right leg, which then led to loss of speech and movement all together, causing him to be bed bound.
When I was born,
Parkinson’s hadn’t completely taken over his body so he was able to do some
everyday tasks himself and have some time to be the proud Grandad in which he
was, but as I grew
he became
more over run by Parkinson’s which means that the only bits I remember of him are of him having to have everything done for him as
Parkinson’s had stopped him from being able to move and talk, so i grew
up seeing carers coming in the mornings when I my Nan looked after me, to help
dress and wash him. When I was about 11 years old he went into
a specialised care home in Worthing where he stayed right up until Parkinson’s
sadly took his life at the age of 70.
I’ve always wanted to do something in memory of my Grandad and I think this is the best way to do so, as I get to also help other people suffering with the same illness and their families.
I know that my Grandad is looking down on me and I set my life to continuing to make him proud of his only grandchild.
