Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Dad's JustGiving page.
On the 3rd February 2021 our world was torn apart by the great loss of the most important person in all of our lives. An amazing Dad, Husband, Grandad, Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. Dad was a very kind and loving family man and a big blue, he loved watching Everton FC, he will be missed by everyone.
Dad passed away of coronavirus in Aintree Hospital at the young age of 61. This has shocked everyone as he was very fit and healthy.
Unknown to most he was diagnosed with leukaemia over 4 years ago. This was something he lived with, undergoing regular blood tests and he kept himself fit going the gym on a regular basis. We understand that the leukaemia did not have any impact on how his body reacted to the virus, but we will never be sure.
When Dad received his diagnosis as well as being worried and upset for himself and his family, he empathised with children who were in the same position as him; or who would need to go through intensive treatment for Cancer. This upset him as much as him receiving the diagnosis the thought of children being ill and how their families would be impacted. My dad was a dedicated family man, with 3 children, 3 Grandchildren and 1 on the way. Anyone who knows him has been very lucky to have him in their lives.
As a family we have chosen this charity to try and help families with children who have been diagnosed with cancer.
This charity is the family support group attached to the Children's Oncology Unit at Alder Hey Hospital. They have been actively helping families since 1986. They have been run solely by Parents who have had a child on the unit. Their aim is to support the whole family not just the patient.
