I learnt to swim when I was 3 years old on Coolmain Beach,  West Cork with the Irish water safety association. This has led to a love of swimming outside. In 2019 I faced one of the most difficult times in my life when I went through illness which led to a hysterectomy. I was determined, when I recovered to get back into open water swimming which I did that summer. Since then, it's become a real passion and joy in my life leading to making so many lovely friends. Doing the English Channel has always been a secret dream of mine and when I discovered the charity Cosmic, it gave me the opportunity to pursue this dream and also raise money for a great charity.
